Ghana’s year-on-year inflation rate declined to 3.2% in March 2026, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the Ghana Statistical Service.

The figure represents the percentage change in the CPI over the 12-month period from March 2025 to March 2026.

The report also recorded a month-on-month inflation rate of 0.1% for March 2026, indicating relative stability in the general price levels of goods and services.

Data from the bulletin showed that inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages remained lower compared to non-food items during the period under review.

Food inflation stood at 2.3% year-on-year, while the non-food category recorded a higher rate of 3.9%.

The figures suggest that price increases in non-food items contributed more to the overall inflation rate.

The report further highlighted regional variations, with inflation rates differing across the country.

According to the GSS, inflation ranged from -4.6% in the Savannah Region to 8.6% in the North East Region.

Eight regions recorded inflation rates above the national average of 3.2%.

The Statistical Service explained that the CPI measures changes over time in the general price level of goods and services consumed by households, using 2021 as the base year.

The decline in inflation reflects easing price pressures in the economy and relative stability in consumer prices.
