The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) and the Judicial Service of Ghana have formalised a new partnership aimed at improving the generation and use of data within the country’s governance framework.

The agreement, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is expected to deepen collaboration between the two institutions in strengthening statistical systems, particularly within the justice sector.

At the centre of the partnership is a plan to enhance the quality and reliability of administrative data produced through judicial processes.

This will involve improving how such data is collected, managed and analysed to support the production of more credible national statistics.

The two institutions are also seeking to address longstanding gaps in data coordination by promoting more seamless information sharing, with the goal of ensuring consistency and alignment with national statistical standards.

Officials say the initiative will play a critical role in supporting evidence-based decision-making, as improved data systems are expected to provide policymakers with more accurate insights for planning, monitoring and evaluating programmes.

The collaboration is further expected to strengthen transparency and accountability within the public sector, while reinforcing the role of data in shaping governance outcomes.

By integrating judicial data into the broader national statistical architecture, the partnership is anticipated to contribute to a more robust and responsive data ecosystem.

The move reflects a growing shift among public institutions towards data-driven approaches in policy formulation and implementation, with stakeholders increasingly recognising the importance of quality data in national development.
