Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory over Young Apostles in their Ghana Premier League clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

After a run of frustrating results, Hearts came into the game under pressure to respond, and they showed intent from the opening minutes. They controlled possession, pushed numbers forward, and looked the more purposeful side in attack.

Their breakthrough arrived in the 35th minute when Frank Abora Duku finished calmly to give the hosts a deserved lead. It was a moment that reflected Hearts’ early dominance and proved to be the decisive contribution on the day.

Hearts continued to dictate the tempo, creating better chances while keeping Young Apostles largely on the back foot. The visitors struggled to build any sustained pressure, managing only a couple of efforts on goal as Hearts remained organised defensively.

Set pieces also favoured the home side, underlining their attacking approach as they looked to extend the lead. However, despite their control, Hearts could not add a second goal to put the game beyond doubt.

The second half saw a more measured performance from the hosts. With the advantage secured, they focused on game management, showing improved discipline and composure to protect their lead. Young Apostles pushed in search of an equaliser but lacked the cutting edge to trouble the Hearts defence.

At full time, the result marked an important return to winning form for Hearts, lifting them to third place on 46 points after 28 matches, and keeping them within reach of the top with six games remaining.

They will now shift attention to their next fixture against Vision FC as they look to sustain momentum in the title race.

For Young Apostles, the defeat deepens their concerns at the bottom end of the table, with the side slipping into the relegation zone ahead of their next match against Swedru All Blacks.
